Academic Opportunity for Urogynecologist
Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center / Harvard Medical School
Boston, Massachusetts
The Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology (OBGYN) at Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center (BIDMC), part of Harvard Medical Faculty Physicians (HMFP) and Harvard Medical School, is seeking a full-time surgeon to join its Division of Urogynecology & Reconstructive Pelvic Surgery (URPS). Our division is well-recognized in the Greater Boston Area for providing equitable, patient-centered care to the population and for our expertise in innovation and minimally invasive surgical treatments. We are also deeply invested in medical education and take pride in teaching medical students, OBGYN residents and URPS fellows, helping to train the next generation of OBGYN clinicians.
The URPS Division currently consists of three fellowship-trained, dynamic urogynecologists, two nurse practitioners, and three specialized nurses. We are seeking a colleague who will bring complementary interest and skills to our existing team and contribute to the division’s growth in both clinical and academic arenas. The ideal candidate will be BE/BC in OBGYN and URPS. Candidates should demonstrate a commitment to research, teaching and quality improvement, as well as proficiency in the medical and surgical management of pelvic floor disorders including comfort with vaginal, laparoscopic and/or robotic approaches. Clinical care will be provided at our main campus in Boston as well as select affiliate clinical sites and hospitals in the greater Boston area. Candidates will serve as a core teaching faculty for the ACGME-accredited three-year URPS fellowship and for the four-week OBGYN PGY-2 URPS rotation. Given our strong commitment to education, we also host sub-interns and visiting residents seeking additional exposure to urogynecology.
This is an exceptional opportunity to join a cohesive and collegial team that thrives on a culture of respect, patient-centered care, and clinical excellence. Our URPS Division has a strong track record of supporting faculty in developing focused clinical and academic interests to build a fulfilling and impactful career. We offer robust mentorship, access to research infrastructure, and an inclusive culture that encourages academic advancement and innovation.
Academic appointment at Harvard Medical School will be offered at the rank of Instructor, Assistant Professor, or Associate Professor in the Department of Obstetrics, Gynecology, and Reproductive Biology. Salary will be commensurate with experience and qualifications.
The department is fully represented in all subspecialties, including Maternal Fetal Medicine, Gynecologic Oncology, Reproductive Endocrinology, and Minimally Invasive Gynecologic Surgery. We also collaborate closely with Colorectal Surgery and Gastroenterology and provide comprehensive multidisciplinary care for complex pelvic floor disorders.
