Description
University of Iowa Health Care is seeking a BE/BC breast surgeon to join a high-volume, academic, breast-only practice alongside four fellowship-trained surgeons, collaborating within a multidisciplinary breast oncology team in a collegial and supportive environment. Our NAPBC-accredited Breast Center houses breast surgery, genetic counseling, and medical oncology within the same clinic and is immediately adjacent to our Breast Imaging Center of Excellence. We are supported by dedicated nurse navigators and two advanced practice providers who manage our high risk and survivorship clinics and a robust and collaborative academic plastic surgery practice performing all forms of breast reconstruction.
University of Iowa Health Care is Iowa's only comprehensive academic medical system and serves as the tertiary referral center for the state. The Breast Center is located within the Holden Comprehensive Cancer Center, the state’s only NCI-designated Comprehensive Cancer Center. Our 811-bed public teaching hospital hosts multiple training programs, including the Carver College of Medicine MD and PA program, a highly regarded general surgery residency, and our multidisciplinary breast surgery fellowship, providing the opportunity to participate in all levels of medical education.
This position offers a unique opportunity for individuals pursuing an academic career in breast surgery. The successful applicant will be appointed as Assistant or Associate Professor in the University of Iowa Health Care Department of Surgery, Division of Surgical Oncology and Endocrine Surgery in either the non-tenure clinical track or tenure track, consistent with experience and research interest. This is an outstanding opportunity for early and mid-career academic surgeons to develop a career in breast surgical oncology with a leading academic medical center.

Education Requirements
- Candidates must hold an MD, DO, or an equivalent degree.
- Candidates must have completed training in all phases of General Surgery.
- Completion of a fellowship in Breast Surgical Oncology or Complex General Surgical Oncology is required
- Certifications
- Board eligibility/certification from the American Board of Surgery.
Desired Qualifications
Applicants with established research are encouraged and appointment to the tenure track requires research experience at a level which enables procurement of outside funding.
