Description
Denver Health Medical Center, in partnership with the University of Colorado School of Medicine, is recruiting a full-time fellowship-trained academic breast surgical oncologist (or those with equivalent training) to serve as Chief, Division of Breast Surgical Oncology at Denver Health Medical Center. This is a key strategic leadership role responsible for growing and overseeing our multidisciplinary breast surgery program and leading the standardization of surgical care for breast disease across the institution. Our highly collaborative, multidisciplinary team-based care model provides personalized treatment for the full spectrum of breast conditions including benign breast disease, high risk patients, breast cancer and survivorship. This is a full-time academic faculty position with clinical, teaching, and research responsibilities, ideal for candidates who are committed to breast health equity, medical education, and academic program development.
This individual will:
- Lead the Division of Breast Surgery overseeing clinical, academic and programmatic development.
- Serve as Co-director of the Denver Health Breast Center, partnering with multidisciplinary colleagues in medical oncology, breast radiology, breast pathology, genetics and plastic reconstructive surgery to deliver high-quality, comprehensive and equitable, patient-centered care.
- Ensure consistent participation in weekly multidisciplinary breast tumor board, quality initiatives and clinical operations meetings.
- Partner with system leaders to drive philanthropy, community outreach and DEI initiatives.
Academic Role:
- Faculty appointment through the University of Colorado School of Medicine, rank commensurate with experience
- Involvement in the education and mentorship of medical students, general surgery residents

- Mentor junior faculty and contribute to academic advancement across the department.
- Integrated into a full general and trauma surgery division with a supportive, collegial medical staff
Qualifications:
- Physician degree (MD, DO, MBBS, MD/PhD, or equivalent).
- Completion of an ACGME-accredited residency in General Surgery.
- Board Certification in General Surgery.
- Fellowship training in Breast Surgical Oncology, Surgical Oncology, or equivalent expertise in breast cancer surgery.
- Minimum of 5 years of clinical experience in breast surgical oncology.
- Eligibility for Colorado medical licensure
- Academic interest in teaching, clinical research, and program growth
Preferred Qualifications:
Track record of program-building experience, or a demonstrated ability to lead transformative growth in breast surgical oncology.
Experience with obtaining and maintaining NAPBC and/or COC accreditation
Active engagement with relevant professional societies (e.g., American Society of Breast Surgeons, Society of Surgical Oncology, etc.)
Proven mentor with a track record of guiding junior faculty, trainees, and staff, and fostering team cohesion.
