OverviewFred Hutchinson Cancer Center is an independent, nonprofit organization providing adult cancer treatment and groundbreaking research focused on cancer and infectious diseases. Based in Seattle, Fred Hutch is the only National Cancer Institute-designated cancer center in Washington.

The primary responsibility of the HANC Legacy Project Manager I position is to support community engagement activities in the NIH-funded HIV Clinical Trials Networks and related community mobilization efforts.
The HANC Legacy Project Manager I is expected to use initiative in carrying out responsibilities as defined by the HANC Legacy Project Director (LPD) in collaboration with representatives of the NIH-funded HIV Clinical Trials Networks. The HANC Legacy Project Manager I will work to build scientific integrity and trustworthiness on the part of the HIV research enterprise while increasing awareness of and support for HIV research on the part of the US public, especially the communities most affected by HIV.

Responsibilities
- Organize, facilitate, and manage projects, advancing progress on the work plans of several Legacy Project working groups, engaging, growing, and energizing these working groups, and ensuring all tasks are completed according to project timelines and HANC standards of excellence.
- Support educational efforts and strategies for increased community literacy regarding HIV prevention, treatment, and research through presentations, webinars, workshops, posters, and other means, including travel to local and national meetings and conferences.
- Engage community constituents in dialogue to learn about community needs and concerns and to build community trust and support. Provide advice/feedback on community engagement to protocol teams, research sites, and network leadership as needed.
- Provide technical assistance and hands-on community engagement training for HIV research staff, community-based organizations, and additional key partners.
- Support the development of integrated communications strategies that promote domestic HIV clinical research efforts, including web development, social media, as well as academic and non-academic writing.
- Share tasks, provide coverage, and support HANC and Legacy Project colleagues as needed.
- With guidance and approval from the LPD, conceive and initiate novel projects and activities to address challenges in HIV research and community engagement.
- Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
- BA/BS in related field or equivalent experience required.
- Minimum of three years post-master's or five years post-bachelor's related project/study management experience in a research setting.
- Grant and contract experience.
- Strong supervisory skills and budgeting experience.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Master's degree in health sciences, public health, social sciences, or related field preferred.
- Experience carrying out complex research responsibilities in support of project/study, requiring advanced related education and/or experience.
- Experience with data analysis, coordination of academic literature and manuscripts for publication.
- Experience with MS SharePoint, Adobe Experience Manager, and other related programs.
- Basic graphic design skills (e.g., Canva).
- Social media management experience.
- Meeting and event planning.
The annual base salary range for this position is from $80,172 to $114,941, and pay offered will be based on experience and qualifications.
This position may be eligible for relocation assistance.
This position is not eligible for H-1B sponsorship at this time.
