Health Information Coder 4 – Observation – Remote
Hiring Pay Scale: $47.66 - $59.26 / Hour

Under general direction of the Coding manager, and according to established procedures, this position assigns ICD and CPT codes for patients receiving services at UCSD Health System. Assigns all applicable APCs for patient accounts and abstracts all coded data into abstracting information system. Responsible for data entry into electronic databases for use in the assessing quality of patient care, outcome analysis, and financial management.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
- Credential by A.H.I.M.A. with either R.H.I.A., R.H.I.T. or C.C.S.
- Demonstrated proficiency in medical coding, with a minimum of 3 years' experience in inpatient and/or observation coding and charging within an acute care setting with R.H.I.A., R.H.I.T. or C.C.S.
- Coding experience with inpatient and/or Observation coding and charging
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Trauma level I.
- Academic Facility Coding.
- Three to five (3 - 5) years coding experience with proven knowledge of observation coding and charging records with RHIT/RHIA/CCS credential.
- Epic & 3M 360 CAC.
- Must maintain credentials by attending regular education sessions.
SPECIAL CONDITIONS
- Must be able to work various hours and locations based on business needs.
- Employment is subject to a criminal background check and pre-employment physical.

If applicable, life-support certifications (BLS, NRP, ACLS, etc.) must include hands-on practice and in-person skills assessment; online-only certification is not acceptable.
