Description
The Division of Nephrology at the University of Wisconsin–Madison is offering two one-year ASN-accredited Interventional Nephrology Fellowship positions for the academic year 2026–2027.
This one-year interventional fellowship will provide a broad experience in all aspects of interventional nephrology, including:
- Eleven months of training in vascular access procedure care at UW and UnityPoint–Meriter Hospital
- One half-day ambulatory clinic per week with a focus on chronic kidney disease care
- Twenty weeks of inpatient service on acute and ESRD services at University Hospital, the Middleton VA Hospital, the Select Specialty Hospital, and the acute service at UnityPoint–Meriter Hospital (including 8 weekend calls)
In addition to bedside teaching, the interventional fellow(s) will:
- Participate in weekly Nephrology Grand Rounds
- Present one Grand Rounds session and one Fellows’ Core Curriculum lecture
- Present one abstract at a national conference
- Publish one manuscript
- Actively participate in quality improvement or peer review activities related to interventional nephrology
The University of Wisconsin offers a state-of-the-art interventional nephrology program that, with approximately 1,000 procedures per year, serves as a referral center for patients throughout the region. Our UW Health kidney failure program is ranked by U.S. News & World Report as a top performer. We also offer a dedicated lupus nephritis clinic — the only one in Wisconsin and the fifth in the nation.

Requirements
Successful completion of at least 2 years of an ACGME-approved general nephrology fellowship training program, or current enrollment in an ACGME-approved training program is required for consideration. Must be able to obtain a Wisconsin Medical License by start date and Board Eligible by the American Board of Internal Medicine by start date.
Due to the clinical duties of this position, we are not able to offer J-1 sponsorship.
