Description
CommonSpirt Health at Creighton University Medical Center Bergan is seeking a second Certified Medical Dosimetrist to join our Radiation Oncology team. We treat 50+ patents per day on two Varian Linacs complemented by a dedicated HDR suite utilizing an Eclipse/Aria planning system accompany MIM and Radformation.
University level of care located in a community hospital. COC and ACR accreditations ensure the highest level of quality care.
Job Summary / Purpose
The Dosimetrist is responsible for calculating and generating radiation dose distributions in order to provide treatment plans under the direction of the radiation oncologist. The medical dosimetrist is expected to have the clinical skills and credentials necessary to function as a radiation therapist.
Essential Functions
Designs accurate treatment plans by means of computer and/or manual computation that delivers prescribed radiation doses as prescribed by the treating radiation oncologist.
Preforms, verifies and documents calculations for the delivery of the prescribed dose and subsequent documentation in patient files and verifies accuracy of calculations using guidelines established by the medical physicist.
Assists in the simulation process to ensure optimal patient position, immobilization and adequate scans for treatment planning as needed.
Participates with aspects of high and low dose brachytherapy procedures that include (but not limited to) implanting of brachytherapy devices, planning, calculations, and quality assurance measures in compliance with hospital, state and federal regulations.
Assists in quality improvement and quality assurance programs/procedures done by the medical physicist to ensure the accuracy and safety of treatments.
Participates in continuing education of treatment planning techniques, current advances in medical dosimetry and the clinical development and implementation of new therapy techniques in the department.
Teaches applied aspects of medical dosimetry to students as assigned.

Requirements
Certified Medical Dosimetrist or board eligible within 6 months of hire
Registered Technologist Radiation Therapy (RTT)
