Radiology Operations Manager - Nuclear Medicine & PET/CT
The Nuclear Medicine Operations Manager provides enterprisewide leadership for General and Cardiac Nuclear Medicine and PET/CT services, overseeing operations across both hospitalbased and ambulatory locations. This role is ideal for a seasoned imaging leader who thrives in complex clinical environments and is passionate about safety, quality, and operational excellence.
You will play a critical role in shaping the delivery of highly specialized diagnostic services, balancing cuttingedge technology with the unique clinical, regulatory, and radiationsafety requirements inherent to nuclear medicine.
What You’ll Do:
- Lead enterprise operations for Nuclear Medicine and PET/CT services, ensuring consistent, highquality care across all sites and shifts.
- Provide direct leadership and mentorship to technologists and support staff working with radiopharmaceuticals and advanced imaging technologies.
- Champion patient safety and quality, with particular emphasis on radiation protection, safe handling of radiopharmaceuticals, and strict adherence to ALARA principles.
- Drive patient experience and staff engagement, fostering a culture of accountability, teamwork, and continuous improvement.
- Serve as the operational liaison for your service line, coordinating effectively with clinical partners, Radiology leadership, and enterprise stakeholders.
- Ensure regulatory and accreditation compliance, including requirements from the NRC, CMS, and relevant accrediting bodies specific to nuclear medicine and PET/CT.
- Support strategic and operational goals of the unit, department, and UK HealthCare by advancing efficiency, standardization, and performance outcomes

UK HealthCare is the academic health system of the University of Kentucky, integrating advanced clinical care, education, and research to deliver highly specialized services for patients across the Commonwealth of Kentucky. Within the Department of Radiology, Nuclear Medicine and PET/CT services provide comprehensive diagnostic imaging and targeted radiopharmaceutical therapies—including PET/CT, SPECT/CT, and emerging radiotheranostic applications—supported by subspecialtytrained faculty and active research programs. UK HealthCare is growing, with key projects coming online in the near future. In 2028, the new Cancer Center and Advanced Ambulatory building will open, housing a new imaging department with both PET/CT and SPECT/CT, as well as a state of the art Radiotheranostics treatment unit.
Requirements
Registered Nuclear Medicine Technologist with 3+ years leadership experience preferred
