Description
Thoracic Radiologist
The Mass General Brigham (MGB) Department of Radiology offers a unique chance to join the newly unified Division of Thoracic Radiology based at Massachusetts General Hospital (MGH) or Brigham & Women’s Hospital (BWH) in Boston, Massachusetts. We seek fellowship-trained thoracic radiologists committed to practicing at the highest level of clinical excellence while actively contributing to the future of academic radiology through a shared emphasis on exceptional patient care, impactful research, innovative education, and meaningful community service.
Opportunity:
The MGB Thoracic Radiology Division provides exceptional subspecialist patient care through collaboration and innovation with oncology, pulmonology, radiation oncology, and thoracic surgery. The Division offers thoracic imaging services at the main campuses of MGH and BWH, associated facilities, and outpatient imaging centers, including several underserved areas of Boston and nearby communities.
Clinical care and research are supported by advanced imaging technologies, including cutting-edge CT (including dual-energy and photon-counting CT), MRI (1.5–7.0T magnets), PET/CT, and PET/MR. Both academic medical centers feature state-of-the-art IR/OR suites, and division members perform image-guided interventions, including needle biopsies, preoperative tumor localizations, and tumor ablations, in collaboration with interventional radiology.
The Department offers comprehensive training programs with 46 residents and 6 cardiothoracic fellows at each academic medical center, providing numerous educational opportunities for faculty. The Division is proud to highlight strong research initiatives supported by world-class research infrastructure across MGB, including lung cancer screening, thoracic interventional oncology, device evaluation, and artificial intelligence. Faculty have 20% protected time for research and education (one day each week). Additionally, home workstations and remote assignments support work–life balance.
The MGB Department of Radiology maintains strong partnerships with the biotech industry and the broader scientific community in the greater Boston area, including Harvard Medical School (HMS) and the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, which offer numerous opportunities for innovative research and teaching. Living in this vibrant, resource-rich, and diverse environment provides excellent schools, major sports teams, cultural activities, and quick access to the ocean and mountains.
Qualifications:
The Division seeks candidates who are fellowship-trained in Thoracic Imaging, have strong clinical skills, and are eager to contribute to the Division's teaching and research goals. Beyond these roles, successful candidates will join multidisciplinary conferences and promote a collaborative, team-focused care environment.
The successful candidate’s academic rank at HMS will be at the Instructor, Assistant, or Associate Professor level, depending on qualifications. A faculty appointment at HMS involves teaching medical students, residents, and fellows. Interested candidates are encouraged to send a CV and cover letter to Amita Sharma, MGB Division Chief of Thoracic Radiology, at asharma2@mgh.harvard.edu
We are an equal opportunity employer, and all qualified applicants will be considered for employment without regard to race, color, religion, sex, national origin, disability, protected veteran status, gender identity, sexual orientation, pregnancy, pregnancy-related conditions, or any other characteristic protected by law.
