Description
Boston Medical Center (BMC) and the Boston University Chobanian & Avedisian School of Medicine are jointly recruiting a thoracic surgeon who is fellowship trained. Candidates must be board-certified or board-eligible. The ideal candidate will have excellent clinical skills and a collaborative, compassionate approach to patient care.
The successful candidate will have expertise in the full spectrum of non-cardiac thoracic surgery, including benign and malignant esophageal diseases, lung cancer, and mediastinal and pleural diseases. They will be experienced in open surgical, minimally invasive, and robotic approaches.
BMC is a 514-bed academic medical center located in Boston’s historic South End and is the flagship of the Boston Medical Center Health System, which includes two community hospitals, BMC – Brighton in Brighton, Mass. and BMC – South in Brockton, Mass. As the largest safety-net hospital in New England, BMC provides consistently excellent and accessible health care to all. BMC has five surgical robots across the health system including the DV5, as well robotic bronchoscopy.
BMC is also the primary teaching affiliate of the Boston University Chobanian & Avedisian School of Medicine, a highly ranked medical school dedicated to urban and international health and recognized as a leader in groundbreaking medical research. The Division of Thoracic Surgery places a high priority on the training, education, and mentorship of general surgery residents and medical students.
The salary range for this position is $410,425 to $1,282,243. The salary of the finalist selected for this role will be set based on a variety of factors, including but not limited to qualifications, experience, education, licenses, specialty, training, and departmental budget. This hiring range represents a good faith and reasonable estimate of the range of possible compensation at the time of posting.
Boston University conducts a background check on all final candidates for certain faculty and staff positions.
