We also have a robust, collaborative academic plastic surgery practice that performs all forms of breast reconstruction.
An Academic Breast Surgery Practice
University of Iowa Health Care is Iowa's only comprehensive academic medical system and serves as the state’s tertiary referral center. The Breast Center is located within the Holden Comprehensive Cancer Center, Iowa’s only NCI-designated Comprehensive Cancer Center, providing an exceptional environment for comprehensive breast surgical oncology care, collaboration, and academic growth.
Our 811-bed public teaching hospital supports multiple training programs, including the Carver College of Medicine MD and PA program, a highly regarded general surgery residency, and our multidisciplinary breast surgery fellowship. This provides the opportunity to participate in medical education at every level.
