Description
ECC - Veterinary Emergency and Critical Care
Dogwood Veterinary Specialty and Emergency | Dunwoody, GA
Join a Team of Six Criticalists. Help Build What's Next.
Dogwood Veterinary Specialty and Emergency is growing, and we are looking for a board-certified or residency-trained Criticalist to join an established critical care team that believes exceptional ICU medicine is built through collaboration.
Dogwood has six ECC doctors on staff, creating an environment where criticalists can collaborate with criticalists, discuss challenging cases, share knowledge, support one another, and continue pushing the standard of care forward.
Critical Care Is Our FoundationCritical care has been part of Dogwood's foundation from the beginning. It influences how our hospital is designed, how our teams collaborate, and how we approach the most complex patients.
You'll practice alongside:
- Six ECC doctors
- Eight emergency doctors, including a Certified Palliative Care DVM
- Three surgeons
- Two neurologists
- A cardiologist
- An oncologist
- A dedicated anesthesiologist
- Internal Medicine support every weekday
- A collaborative team of board-certified and residency-trained specialists
Our advanced capabilities include:
- Dialysis and renal replacement therapy
- Mechanical ventilation and advanced respiratory support
- Advanced hemodynamic and ICU monitoring
- Transfusion medicine with in-house blood bank
- CT, MRI, ultrasound, and digital radiology
- Advanced surgical and interventional capabilities
Practice With Criticalists, Not Just Around Them
One of the most important things we can offer a Criticalist is other Criticalists.
Having six ECC doctors within Dogwood means access to colleagues who understand the complexity of your cases, the decisions you make, and the demands of ICU medicine.
Whether your interests include mechanical ventilation, extracorporeal therapies, sepsis, trauma, transfusion medicine, renal replacement therapy, advanced monitoring, or another area of critical care, we want to give you the resources and support to pursue them.
At Dogwood, you'll work directly with Surgery, Neurology, Cardiology, Oncology, Internal Medicine, Anesthesia, Emergency, and other specialty services to provide comprehensive care for critically ill patients.
That means collaboration with specialists when needed, advanced diagnostics, and a team that believes the best outcomes come from working together.
What Makes Dogwood Different?
Veterinary-Led Medical Leadership
Our medical leadership comes directly from practicing specialists. Kevin Kirchofer, DVM, MS, DACVECC, and Peter Czajkowski, DVM, DACVS-SA, serve as Dogwood's Medical Directors while continuing to practice alongside our team.
They understand firsthand the challenges, responsibilities, and rewards of specialty and critical care medicine. This creates a culture centered on clinical autonomy, collaboration, mutual respect, and supporting exceptional medicine while building a healthy, sustainable workplace.
A Strong, Well-Trained Support Team
Dogwood invests in the staff supporting our doctors. Our RVTs and technician assistants receive structured, Dogwood-specific training designed around the needs of a specialty and emergency hospital, helping build a knowledgeable, capable team prepared to support advanced patient care.
Culture and Respect
Practice at a hospital where you are part of the team, your voice matters, and your expertise is respected. We believe exceptional medicine and a healthy workplace go hand in hand.
