Description
Summary: Supports the manuscript submission activities of two journals to ensure compliance with all required submission elements. Assist authors with submission issues as needed. Project Management of PodCasts for both journals from point of content suggestions to scheduling. Fulfills areas of editorial responsibility as defined by the Publications Director.
Duties and Responsibilities: Manages the manuscript submission program of both journals, including
o adherence to the author disclosure program,
o originality of content,
o appropriate formatting and referencing,
o correct file types,
for ASO, participation in the journal’s visual abstract program
for SOI, cascading submission program
- Works closely and coordinates with editors regarding peer review and manuscript decisions, and ensures editorial workflows are followed
- Manages companion papers programs, including
editorials, ASO Author Reflections, ASO Visual Abstracts, others as needed
Flags for Editor and team articles that not appropriate for the journal, or which may have plagiarism/similarity issues, for review and withdrawal as approved
Manages the editorial workflow for the Complete Admin Checklist and Assign Section Editor queues
Assist authors with submission issues as needed
Raise Author, Reviewer, or Editor issues as appropriate
Manage user merges
Assist with Disclosures
Project Manager for Podcasts – including solicitations, coordination of podcast and handoff to podcast editor
Provides editorial and other support as needed to authors, reviewers and editors
Responds to inquiries, provides updates on manuscript status, handles author revisions and file management
Ensures adherence to journal quality guidelines
Maintains peer review confidentiality in all communications
Provide support as needed for Visual Abstracts
Add DOIs to Author Reflections and/or Editorials
Convert large video files into a downloadable link for the authors/reviewers/editors
Chase reviewers
Confirm and add CME for reviewers
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in communication /related field
Knowledge of the ScholarOne peer review platform a plus
Understanding of the peer review process, including ethics and confidentiality standards a plus
Excellent communication skills, both verbally and in writing
Ability to manage time and schedule so that work goals and requirements are achieved
