Description
Emergency Technician | Up to $7,500 Relocation/Retention Bonus
Let’s get this out of the way! When you pictured the next big move in your veterinary technician career, Fargo, North Dakota may not have been the first city and state that came to mind.
We get it!
You have options. Skilled veterinary technicians are in demand everywhere, and there are ER technician jobs in major cities across the country. You could probably find a position near a beach, a mountain, a major airport, or a restaurant with a reservation list longer than our winters.
But here’s what Fargo has that many of those places do not:
- A busy, established ER/ICU where you will see a truly diverse caseload
- A hospital that is independently owned by local veterinarians
- A team that values experienced technicians and uses them to the full extent of their skills
- The opportunity to work alongside Criticalists, ER doctors, specialists, and a strong support team
- Advanced equipment, real emergency medicine, and cases that keep you learning
- Up to a $7,500 relocation/retention bonus for ER-experienced technicians
- And a community that needs, values, and supports emergency and specialty care
Also, for the record, Fargo is much more than the movie, dontcha know!
Red River Animal Emergency Hospital & Referral Center is seeking experienced Veterinary Emergency Technicians to join our busy ER and ICU team.
This Is Not Your Average Technician Role
Our ER and ICU service has been serving patients and families across North Dakota, Minnesota, and South Dakota for 20 years. We are North Dakota’s only 24/7 emergency hospital and referral center, and our team sees a wide variety of emergency, critical care, surgical, internal medicine, oncology, and specialty cases.
This is a great fit for a technician who wants to do more than routine appointments all day.
Here, you will be part of a fast-paced emergency hospital where no two shifts are exactly the same. You may help with triage, patient stabilization, critical case monitoring, anesthesia, emergency procedures, diagnostics, hospitalized patient care, client communication, and the kind of hands-on nursing that makes emergency medicine both challenging and rewarding.
If you are an experienced ER technician who thrives in a busy environment, enjoys working with a team, and wants to keep growing your skills, this could be the right next step.
Why This Role Is Different
Red River Animal Emergency Hospital & Referral Center is independently and locally owned. Our owners work in the hospital and in the community, which means decisions are made by people who understand the medicine, the team, and the realities of daily hospital life.
We know emergency medicine can be intense. We also know that great technicians are essential to great patient care.
We are looking for technicians who want to be active members of the medical team, use their skills, think critically, ask questions, keep learning, and help provide high-quality care in a hospital where emergency and critical care are at the heart of what we do.
You will have:
- A busy ER/ICU with a diverse and challenging caseload
- The opportunity to work alongside Criticalists, ER doctors, specialists, and experienced technicians
- Exposure to emergency, critical care, and specialty and referral cases
- A team-based environment where skilled technicians are valued
- Opportunities to perform triage, patient monitoring, treatments, diagnostics, and advanced nursing care
- Hands-on experience with anesthesia, fluid therapy, blood transfusions, oxygen support, and critical patient care
- Advanced monitoring, diagnostic, imaging, and treatment capabilities
- Opportunities to grow your technical, nursing, anesthesia, and critical care skills
- A hospital leadership team that understands and supports emergency medicine
- A workplace where your work is noticed and appreciated

Now, About Fargo
No, Fargo is probably not the first place most people search when they open a job board.
But maybe that is exactly why this opportunity is worth a closer look.
The Fargo-Moorhead area offers a lifestyle that is increasingly hard to find: a growing metro area with excellent schools, universities, restaurants, breweries, concerts, festivals, sporting events, year-round outdoor recreation, lakes nearby, and a strong sense of community.
It also offers something many larger cities cannot: affordability, short commutes, room to breathe, and the chance to be part of a hospital and community where your work is noticed and appreciated.
We are not going to pretend Fargo is Miami, Denver, Seattle, or San Diego.
It is Fargo. And we think that is a good thing.
Come meet the team. Tour the hospital. See the caseload. Explore the community. Let us show you why people who give Fargo a chance often end up surprised by how much they like it here.
