About the position:
Moffitt Cancer Center is seeking an Assistant, Associate, or Senior Member Faculty Medical Physicist (MP). Faculty MP have the predominant responsibility of advancing the academic vision and mission of the Moffitt Cancer Center and of the Department of Radiation Oncology by excelling in clinical service, educational activities, and innovative research and developments. Academic rank will be commensurate with experience and scholarly achievements. The Moffitt Cancer Center is affiliated with the University of South Florida. Primary and secondary University appointments are available, as applicable.
Currently, there are five radiotherapy clinics, one at the main campus and four at ambulatory centers, with a total of fourteen accelerators that include an Elekta Unity MR-Linac and a Varian Ethos both at the main campus, and an IBA ProteusOne proton therapy system at the Speros center. Conventional linacs are Varian Truebeams and two are Trilogies that will soon be replaced with the latest technologies. Most EBRT plans are performed in the RayStation treatment planning system integrated with MOSAIQ. Two Truebeams are equipped for SRS. The department also has seven CT-simulators, two MR-simulators and an HDR suite. The department is expected to continue to expand its footprint state-wide. Department faculty actively participate in teaching and research, including clinical trials.
Qualifications:
Successful candidates must have or be eligible for a Florida MP License, an Ph.D. degree in physics, engineering, medical physics, mathematics, or closely related STEM. The successful candidate must be board certified or board-eligible by the American Board of Radiology in Therapeutic Radiologic Physics or equivalent.
Preferred experience: three (Assistant), five (Associate) or more (Senior) years of post-graduate training/working as a Therapeutic MP in Radiation Oncology.
The successful candidates should have experience with advanced radiotherapy technologies such as IMPT, VMAT, IMRT, IGRT, SRS, SBRT, SGRT, HDR, tumor motion management, and state-of-the-art quality assurance instrumentation and methods. Successful candidates must have evidence of a firm commitment to an outstanding academic career as a clinician, educator, and researcher. Research experience must be evident by a strong record of peer-reviewed publications. Active participation in educational programs such as the MP Ph.D. and MP Residency programs (both CAMPEP-accredited) and the MD Residency program is expected.
