Description
The Department of Radiation Oncology at Rutgers Cancer Institute and Robert Wood Johnson Medical School is seeking applications for a physician-scientist faculty position at the Assistant or Associate Professor level. This tenure-track or tenured faculty position is intended for an investigator with a strong record of scientific scholarship, translational research, and clinical excellence.
The successful candidate will be expected to develop and sustain an innovative, independently funded research program aligned with the strategic priorities of Rutgers Cancer Institute while contributing to the clinical and academic missions of the Department. This position offers substantial opportunities for interdisciplinary collaboration across Rutgers Cancer Institute’s research programs, including cancer metabolism and immunology, genomic instability and cancer genetics, cancer pharmacology, and cancer prevention and control. Protected research time, competitive start-up support, and access to shared resources are available to facilitate the development of a high-impact research portfolio.
The Rutgers Cancer Institute oncology service line is the largest academic health care system in NJ with a service area covering nine counties and a population of five million people. The Institute is the only NCI-designated Comprehensive Cancer Center in the state of NJ, and operates the recently completed Jack and Sheryl Morris Cancer Center, a 12-story, 520,000 square foot freestanding cancer hospital in New Brunswick, NJ. The department leads clinical and translational programs in MR-Linac based adaptive radiotherapy, IMRT/IGRT, SBRT, brachytherapy, GKRS, Proton therapy, and Radiopharmaceutical therapy.
Candidates must have a MD, MD/PhD, or equivalent degree, be board certified/eligible in Radiation Oncology, and be eligible for a NJ Medical License. Candidates should also possess a strong publication record and the capacity to obtain extramural research funding. Academic rank and tenure status will be commensurate with experience.
